Lip augmentation

Hyaluronic acid treatment

A full, lined and beautifully shaped lip is a must when it comes to having a feminine face. Slim lips make a face very serious, neutral and grey.

After a certain age, the lips lose their fullness and become thinner, while others’ lips are genetically thin independent of age. The volume of the lips and wrinkle augmentation are achieved by the most modern hyaluronic acid treatment.

The hyaluronic acid is a natural part of our body that enables the flexibility of our skin. However the concentration of the hyaluronic acid decreases with the number of years and therefore age begins to show by wrinkles appearing. This process also becomes visible on our lips, after some years wrinkles begin to appear not only around the mouth but also on the lips which can be perfectly removed by this procedure.

In case of lip augmentation the hyaluronic acid based filler is injected under the skin and is absorbed. Despite the treatment lasting only a few minutes, the results are sensual lips in only a matter of minutes. At our clinic we use Esthélis as the filler material, it is of natural origin, it breaks down and it is a very tissue friendly material.  It is not only used for lip augmentation and enhancement but also in the field of wrinkle filling.

The injection treatment can be used in the following facial parts:

  • The vertical creases between the eyebrows (glabellar lines)
  • The horizontal wrinkles on the forehead
  • Smile lines
  • Wrinkles around the eyes, so-called ‘crow’s feet’
  • Soft vertical age wrinkles around the upper and lower lips
  • Scar corrections
  • Nose corrections
  • Lip enhancement
  • Chin

The above mentioned material is injected under the skin with a very fine needle in the area of the skin to be treated. The filler material is especially elastic therefore there is no risk of clotting. It is suitable for both the needs of male and female patients.  In the days following the surgery swelling can be expected and will cease in 12-48 hours. The treated area should not be pressed in the following 2 days and refrain from a lot of speaking and laughing as well. As long as the swelling persist, the treated are should be kept from heat and sun rays (e.g. sun burn, solarium).

Due to the use of the filler material, there is a minimal risk of allergy and side effect. The chances of complication after the operation is also minimal, post-treatment is not necessary.

Side effects are extremely rare but can include:

  • Allergic reaction (inflammation, redness, sensitivity) has a chance of thousants and passes within 12-48 hours.
  • In a few percentages a clot can appear at the place of the filler material.
  • In some rare cases the filler material is absorbed in a quicker way which can be due to individual or constitutional reasons.
  • The needle can cause a herpes if that has already appeared with the patient in the past.
  • Aspirin or other similar medicine can cause bleeding at the point of the procedure.

The following are generally recommended after the operation:

  • Do not touch or press the operated area for 2 days and in case of treatment around the lips a lot of talk (e.g. speeches) and laughing should be avoided.
  • After 1 day the treated area can be washed carefully even with a soap and make up can also be used.
  • As long as the treated area is swollen and red it should be kept from any kind of extreme heat (sunbath, solarium) or cold.
  • In case of lip enhancement, lip contour and tattoo should not be done in the following 1 month.

The treatment is not recommended in the following cases:

  • If the patient is allergic to lidocaine.
  • Persistent dermatological illness or in case of herpes.
  • In case of serious allergy.
  • With those suffering from autoimmune illnesses.
  • Taking of blood thinner products (aspirin, heparin, sincumar).
